Mexico City is preparing for the Half Marathon and Marathon 2025, with the addition of a new race called 'Utopias Race'. This novelty aims to promote Utopias and inclusion in the event, with an eight-kilometer route expecting the participation of up to 15 thousand runners.
The director of the Sports Institute of CDMX, Javier Peralta, explained that 16 Utopias will be constructed, one in each borough, and promotional races will be established to connect these spaces. The route will start from the Utopia SCOP at the intersection of Eje Central and Eje 4 and will end at the Utopia of Children in Magdalena Mixhuca.
The innovative route will run along Eje Central, turn right on Viaducto Rio de la Piedad until reaching the GNP Stadium. The medals awarded will be collectible, spelling the word 'Utopia' over six years through each letter given each year.
The official shirt for the Marathon and Half Marathon was presented, as well as the collectible medals with the letters that will form the word 'Utopia' when completed. The main race will continue to maintain the traditional route, while the Half Marathon will start at the Caballito in Reforma and finish at the Diana.
Additionally, several training sessions will be held prior to the Half Marathon and Marathon, including races for women, children, and a circuit that will cover the eight Utopias. The training dates are set until August, looking for emblematic spaces in the city like Chapultepec Forest and Tláhuac Forest to experience running in community.
